The ancient’s jewellery is amazing, this is really hard to imagine people at that time which they are limited by the power tools and still making some of the master pieces like these. And I feel like we are spoiled by all the power tools that we have. If I have chances to reject power tools, I will, they are just too fast sometimes and you can’t feel the irregularities and the tool will take over. 

I believe this should be from Tibet

My inspiration of wood( Munchen)Chris Li

I'm surprised that the dosage of wood in Munchen is more than i expect, which the locals using the

recycle papers and turn them into wooden forks and spoons. I noticed that the plastic bottle's plastic is

really thin which is really environmental friendly. But with the exhibition's invitation cards and papers

( not saying that they are rubbish) that i have been collecting in three days of exploring in Munchen is

almost 50 of them. And this makes me start thinking of the contradiction of woods that we need, and

this is bond to our daily life which can not be separated. However at least we tried not to use as much

plastic we used to. But try to imagine how much wood we need....... money, certificate, furniture, tools,

matches, paper towels, maps....... etc. So how can we stop cutting down trees?

Attai Chen (Chris Li)

The Lunatic swing exhibition is base on the influence by the nature. And Attai Chen was one of the

artists who was fascinated with the organic microcosms. His chosen material is torn paper. But his work

often captures the free form of nature and this is what he does best by focusing on the infinity of life

objects. One of his works "Fish a wish" which he used the whole Sardin fish and turned it into a pin is

really inspiring and got me thinking about how you can capture the nature by actually using the "real

thing" from it, indeed we can't make perfect things with our hands, but by using the nature we can. The

Sardin fish pin coated with gold leaf gives life to it. The simple act can sometimes tells you more than

we can imagine!

Don't you hate the moment when the camera battery shows as full and drop to zero in 5 mins, my camera is 

dead today, but which makes me understand that deep down inside your heart you would like to capture the 

most beautiful thing in front of you but you just can’t… it can only stays in your memories forever, and it will 

always be the most perfect thing in your mind. Sometimes we have to put away our camera and enjoy the 

heavenly glory in front of our eyes but not a photo that we took.

Studio visit Helen Britton and David Bielander(Chris Li)

Helen Britton and David Bielander had been founding their studio for 10 years now. However they are

not working alone but with two other artist which are from japan and switzerland. As they said working

with other people gives you a good opportunity to learn and communicate with the others. Since every

 artist background and culture is different, we can experience the other sides of the world by not "living

 in your own Globe" like a frog under the well. The interesting way of presenting the works by Helen

Britten also inspire me in someway. Helen Britten presented some of her works on one side of the table

and the other side of table was different parts which are from a completed work. This can also helped

me to analysis what works and what doesn't, by trying , failing and making is the major process to

finish a piece. And this is same as David Bielander as well, by trying the different shapes of the snakes,

the measurement and the scales into a finished piece will need a lot of experimenting and failing and

 this  can't be successful at first.

Day 4 studio visit Ruudt Peter (Chris li)

"If you wanna make a good piece you will have to make 10 shitty one", saids Ruudt Peter . Which I

totally agree as a process of your work that you can fully understand your work during this. And Ruudt

Peter's has mentioned that the presentation is important and we shouldn't be limited by just jewellery but

also even with the installation. His blind drawings are also the point for "feel it but without thinking it".

This makes you a chance to do whatever, like a child and being creative and being yourself. But if you

have too much skill, you will limit yourself , so you will have to play around as a kid, just like a blind

drawing and find the best way to express yourself .

Friday march 1 gallery rob koudijs(Chris li)

Friday March 1 gallery visit, Gallery Rob Koudijs is a gallery that like to exhibit the sculptural

jewellery. First they started with a few artists that they knew before, then they go through all around the

world to invite different artists. The personal connection with different artists are the most important

element, they think that to understand the artists history is also a way to comprehend their works. Each

exhibition is staying for six weeks. In the past six years, there has been over 35 artists showed in the

gallery. This is a really good concept by not letting a broad different artists but only work with the

artists that have resonance with the gallery. And this retains the quality of work, maintaining the

gallery's support system.

Day 2 Ela Bauer studio visiting ( chris li)

Day two Ela Bauer studio visiting. Ela Bauer is a bit of a thinker as she said. She would like to free her

 mind and be just like apron that she has created. She often uses colours to express the story of her

works. She believes that everyone has a story, once you take off your apron, you will be able to be

yourself again but not that you have to listen to the boss and do whatever they said, which is to confront

our own will. The different stories can also be told from the apron's incidental drawing marks, for

example a shoe maker and a jewellery maker.After that we went to visit Ted Noten's studio and I found

that they share a similar concept of being free and not limiting yourself with your tools. For one of his

work "Chewing gum brooch" by letting his audience chew their gum and then cast them into silver.

This achieves his whole point of being free and the way to let people from different profession to be

creative.

Day 1 gallery Marzee (Chris li)

After a long day trip we have arrived at Nijnlegen by train to visit gallery Marzee. Gallery Marzee has a

broad collection consisting of different artists which I have been inspired by artist such as Dorothea

Pruhl, Flora Vagi and Jenny Kleming have all collected their inspiration from the nature and the

connection around them. The infinity probability texture that nature can create is perfect. For example

Jenny Klemming's "Grandiflora " ring which is made out of apple wood, it has the unique form of

growing and by adding silver, enamel and silk which becoming a contradistinction  to a hand made

object and a natural object. And I'm really interest in the different between them because the colour of

the silver is totally different to the apple wood, and the unusual combination is turning the piece from

raw materials into an artificial jewellery. And this is the junction between of the natural object.
